Byron L. Johnson

Byron Lindberg Johnson ( born October 12, 1917 in Chicago, Illinois, † January 6, 2000 in Englewood, Colorado ) was an American politician. Between 1959 and 1961 he represented the second electoral district of the state of Colorado in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Byron Johnson attended until 1933, the Oconomowoc High School in Wisconsin. Subsequently, he studied until 1940 economics at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Between 1938 and 1942 he was also a member of the health committee of the State of Wisconsin; after which he was employed until 1944, when local Ministry of Finance in the budget department. Between 1944 and 1947 he worked for the Social Security Administration in Washington DC employed. After that, he was from 1947 to 1956 professor at the University of Denver.

Politically, Johnson was a member of the Democratic Party. In 1956, he ran unsuccessfully for Congress. From 1957 to 1958 he was part of the senior staff of Colorado's Governor Stephen McNichols. In 1958 he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, where he was Republican William S. Hill replaced on January 3, 1959. Since he has not been confirmed in the elections of 1960, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until January 3, 1961.

In the years 1960 and 1968, Johnson was a delegate to the Democratic National Conventions relevant. Between 1961 and 1965 he was an advisor to the International Cooperation Administration. In 1965 he worked as a professor for the University of Colorado. In 1972, he tried unsuccessfully to return to Congress. Between 1982 and 1984, Johnson was a member, Vice President and President of the Regional Transportation District of Denver.
