Byron Lee

Byron Lee ( * June 27, 1935 in Christiana, Manchester Parish, † November 4, 2008 in Kingston) was a Jamaican musician ( bass player and band leader ).

Life

Byron Lee was leader of the band Byron Lee 's All Chinese band, one of the most famous bands in Jamaica and was with the band The Dragonaires and as the owner of the record label Dynamic Sounds pave the way for the success of Jamaican music on the world market.

Albert R. Broccoli and Harry Saltzman dedicated his band to pieces of music for the film James Bond Dr. No einzuspielen - Jump Up, Underneath the Mango Tree and Three Blind Mice. Byron Lee himself was also seen in the film: as a leader in the Puss - Fellers Club, where his ensemble plays the song Jump Up.

Lee died on 4 November 2008 from cancer.
