Bystroye Canal

The Bystre channel (alternative spelling: Bystroje channel of Ukrainian бистрий / Bystryj or Russian быстро / bystro, "fast", Romanian Canalul Bâstroe ) is a powerful navigation canal -developed branch of the river in the north, the Ukrainian part of the Danube Delta. It connects the Danube with the Black Sea. It is a branch of Kilijaarms and lies between the " Wylkowe " arm and the "New Stamboul Deltaarm ".

Geographical location

The Bystre channel starts about 7 km downstream of the small port town Wylkowe (Russian Вилково / Wylkowo ) and performs about 9 km to the east to the Black Sea.

History

The channel registered on Soviet maps with the ( Russian ) name Новостамбульское гирло / Novo Stambulskoje Gyrlo, " New Stamboul Deltaarm " is silted since the Yugoslavia war. In order to revive the Black Sea ports in the Ukrainian Danube Delta, the Ukrainian government has a German company from Hamburg commissioned to make something lying north Bystre - Deltaarm rather than the previously used " New Stamboul Deltaarm " navigable.
