Bytča

Bytča is a city in the north-western Slovakia.

Geography

It lies at the confluence of the creek Petrovická with the river Vah, in a small valley surrounded by mountains Javorníky the north and west and Hills of the Súľovské the east and south. The city center lies at an altitude of 308 m nm and is 18 km from Zilina and 185 kilometers from Bratislava.

History

The village was founded in 1946 by the merger of the municipalities of Malá Bytča VeLka Bytča and Hliník nad Váhom (formerly also Hlinik ). Today, the city consists of the following parts:

  • Beňov (1898 incorporated in Mikšová )
  • Hliník nad Váhom
  • Hrabové (1971 incorporated )
  • Malá Bytča ( German small Bitscha )
  • Mikšová (1907 in Malá Bytča incorporated )
  • Pšurnovice (1971 incorporated )
  • VeLka Bytča ( German wholesale Bitsch )
