Byward Street

The Byward Street is a short main street in the City of London. The busy extension of the Lower Thames Street leads past the Tower of London at All Hallows -by-the - Tower, and at Knollys House northwest. It is named after the Byward Tower in the fortress of the Tower of London.

The Byward Street is part of London's inner city ring. It lies on the route, which routes the traffic from the City of London to Tower Bridge. The Byward Street was built in 1882 / 1883. She joined the Great Tower Street with the Trinity Square and was built simultaneously with the Metropolitan Railway and the metro station Tower Hill. Since the 1960s, she is also with the Lower Thames Street connected and since part of the busy east-west route along the Thames riverbank.

At the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London, the marathon course of the ladies and gentlemen led through the Byward Street.
