Bžany (Teplice District)

Bžany until 1921 Vebžany ( German Webeschan ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located eight kilometers south-east of the center of Teplice and belongs to Okres Teplice.

Geography

Bžany is located in the northwestern foothills of the Bohemian Uplands right side of Bílina at the inflow Luční Brook. To the north rises the Bžanský vrch ( Webeschaner mountain, 293 m ) and in the northeastern Chotyně (273 m) with the desolate castle paradise. On the southern outskirts of Bžany are the rest of the holes of the brown coal mine Karolina. In the north of the railway Lovosice - Teplice skirts the village, next train stop " Hradiště v Čechách " is 500 meters outside of Bžany. To the north runs the European Route 55 / State Road 8

Neighboring towns are Úpořiny, Kozlíky and velvety to the north, Rtyně nad Bílinou in the northeast, Žalany in the east, Lelov the southeast, Bukovice and Mošnov in the south, Lhenice and Úpor the southeast, Německy, Ohníč and Hradiště the east and Lysec in the Northeast.

History

The first mention of Bžany place in the year 1303.

At the beginning of the 19th century acquired Edmund Moritz von Clary - Aldringens Bžany and graduated its Fideikommissherrschaft Teplice. The place was dominated by agriculture until the 19th century, it was also hop operated. In 1830 the mining of lignite started on the pit Arnold at Webeschan and ratchet.

After the abolition of patrimonial Webeschan / Vebžany formed in 1850 a part of the community Kladrob / Kradrob in the district of Teplice. From 1910 Webeschan became an independent municipality of the district of the ratchet / Hradiště belonged. 1921 was the amendment to the Czech place name in Bžany. The municipality had Webeschan 1930 including ratchet 869 inhabitants, most of whom were German. After the Munich Agreement, the community was added to the German Reich and was from 1939 to 1945 the district of Teplice. 1939 lived 812 people in Webeschan. After the end of World War II, the place came back to Czechoslovakia and the German inhabitants were expelled. Until 1953 was the pits Karolina II and Přemysl the mining of lignite. In 1961, the incorporation of Lhenice including the districts Bukovice and Mošnov. In 1980, still Lysec added with Lbín and Pytlíkov.

The municipality consists of the villages Bžany Bukovice ( Bukowitz ) Bžany ( Webeschan ) Hradiště ( ratchet ), Lbín ( Welbine ) Lhenice ( Welhenitz ) Lysec ( Ließnitz ) Mošnov ( mosques ) and Pytlíkov ( Pitt Ling ). Basic settlement units are Bukovice, Bžany, Hradiště, Lbín, Lhenice, Lysec and Mošnov .. The municipality is divided into the Katastralbezirke Bžany, Lhenice u Bžan and Lysec.
