Bzowo, Pomeranian Voivodeship

Bzowo ( German Besow ) is a village in the northeast of the Polish Pomeranian Voivodeship and is part of the rural community Kobylnica ( Kublitz ) in the powiat Słupski ( Stolp ).

Geographical location

Bzowo located 12 kilometers east of Sławno ( Schlawe ) and 22 kilometers west of the county town of Slupsk on a side street, the main road 6 (formerly German Reich Straße 2, now also European Route 28 ) Gdansk - Szczecin in Reblino ( Reblin ) about Słonowice ( United Schlönwitz ) and Kczewo ( Egsow ) with Tychowo ( (Wendish ) Tychow ) in the province road 209 ( Sławno - Bytów ( Buetow ) ) connects. The nearest train station is Wrześnica ( Freetz ) to the state railway line No 202 Gdańsk - Stargard.

The landscape is hilly with Bzowo at an altitude of about 35-40 meters above sea level. Neighboring towns are Warszkówko ( New Warschow ) and Noskowo ( Notzkow ) in the north, Słonowice ( United Schlönwitz ) in the east, Wrząca ( Franzen ) and Ściegnica ( Ziegnitz ) in the south and Tychowo ( (Wendish ) Tychow ) in the west.

History

Bzowo was first mentioned in documents as Swantopolk II of Pomerania (1195-1266) the Order of St. John passes several villages, including Hiweze ( = Egsow, Polish: Kczewo ) and Besowo. At an unknown time the Knights have given up these possessions again. 1480 Mathias Bone is named as owner of Besow, and 1529 is the family of Boehn owner. In this family owned Besow remains until 1857 when sold Franz Wilhelm Adolf von Boehn the property to Friedrich von Blumenthal. This sold it in 1892 to August Siemers, landlords Kunsow ( Kończewo ).
