C. J. Brown (2011)

Charles James " CJ " Brown ( born June 15, 1975 in Eugene, Oregon ) is a former American football player at the position of a defender.

As an assistant coach he oversees since 2011 the Major League Soccer team Real Salt Lake.

Playing career

Youth and College

Brown played four years of college soccer at San Jose State University. During this time he has been twice to the All- Conference Player ( 1995 and 1996) appointed. During and after college played Brown in the United States International Soccer League with the San Francisco Bay Seals.

For the Seals he had the first two years the status of an amateur footballer, as the team in the UISIL Premier League, an amateur league, he played and at the same time still in college. In 1997, the Seals played in the USISL D-3 Pro League, which later became the USL Second Division, and managed in the same year even to the semifinals Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. Due to his good performances during this time that Major League Soccer was aware of him.

Major League Soccer

Brown was drafted as the first pick in the MLS Supplemental Draft in 1998 by the Chicago Fire SC. Without problems he could equal as regulars establish there and remained so in the coming years.

In its first ten years, completed 249 games during the regular season. It is thus still the player with the most games for Chicago Fire. In 1998, he won with the team the MLS Cup four times and the U.S. Open Cup.

Brown also strove for the younger players and has been described by many as "Fire original." His strength in the tackle and professional hardness was legendary in the MLS.

After the 2010 season, he announced his career end.

National

Brown completed 15 caps for the U.S. national soccer team. His first he made on 6 November 1998 against Australia. At the FIFA Confederations Cup in 1999, where the U.S. finished third, he was part of the squad and was in the 2-0 victory over the German national football team the full 90 minutes on the court. Also, the CONCACAF Gold Cup 2000 he belonged to the levy of the United States.

Coaching career

CJ Brown is an assistant coach at Real Salt Lake. He has held since the 2011 season this office.

Personal

Brown married his wife Kim on 22 October 2000. On 24 February 2004, the first daughter, Canessa J -Lyn, was born. The second daughter, Kali Anh Brown came exactly one year later at the world.
