C. J. Ramone

CJ Ramone ( born October 8, 1965 as Christopher Joseph Ward in the New York City borough Queens ) is an American bassist, singer and guitarist. He was known from 1989 as the bassist of the U.S. punk band Ramones.

Career

CJ Ramone grew up on Long Iceland in the U.S. state of New York and learned electric bass playing at the age of thirteen, after he had already played drums. In 1980 he first heard the music of the Ramones. When the Ramones in 1989 by ad in the U.S. magazine Village Voice sought a new bassist, Dee Dee Ramone had since left the band, he took part in the audition and was hired as the first participants promptly. Before he could join the band as a permanent member, but he had a criminal arrest with the U.S. Marines dismount, as he had removed during his military service without permission of the troops.

He then became the youngest member of the band has existed since 1974 and had his live debut with the Ramones on 4 September 1989 during a television appearance. His first live performance before an audience, he completed at the start of a European tour the band on September 30, 1989 in the English city of Leicester.

CJ Ramone played from 1989 until the dissolution of the band on August 6, 1996 e- bass in the Ramones and sang some well-known Ramones songs, the vocals had previously been contributed by ex-member Dee Dee Ramone. His greatest contribution as a singer and composer of the band in 1995 to their last studio album, Adios Amigos, to which he contributed two of his own compositions and also took over the vocals on four tracks of the album.

Besides his work with the Ramones 1992 he founded the New York punk band Los Gusanos, which became his main occupation after the dissolution of the Ramones. The Gusanos Ward plays guitar and sings.

He is married to the niece of the Ramones drummer Marky Ramone. The couple has two children.

In 2009, he gave some performances together with Daniel Rey and Brant Bjork ( Kyuss, Fu Manchu ) as the opening act of Die Toten Hosen. Furthermore, it was shown on German festival stages, playing the hits of the Ramones time. So he opened including the Area4 Festival.
