C.F. Caniçal

The CF Caniçal is a football club based in the Portuguese municipality Caniçal (Madeira).

History

The club was founded on September 16, 1981 on the initiative of Duarte Moniz, Ivo dos Santos Velosa and Manuel Carlos Melim. In a short time he rose to the 1 ª Divisão on the Football Federation of Madeira. Since 1984 also take part in youth teams of the club in the game mode.

With establishment of the Zona Franca da Madeira in the late 1980s the existing play area was lost and the club moved to the present Campo do Caniçal. In the season 1996/97 he secured his first title in 1 ª Divisão Madeira and rose to the national leagues. As early as the following year saw the descent. After the second title in 2004 /05, the association established in the III Divisão Nacional and increased in 2007 as a master in the II Divisão on. After two descents in 2009 and 2011, the club played since the summer of 2012 again in II Divisão.
