C.S. Cartaginés

Club Sport Cartaginés is a football club based in Cartago, Cartago Province, Costa Rica. Cartaginés is one of the oldest and most traditional football clubs in Costa Rica and especially enjoys in the province of Cartago high popularity.

History

The club was founded on July 1, 1906, is one of the seven founding members of the Primera División de Costa Rica.

Especially in the first decades Cartaginés could achieve good rankings in the highest Costa Rican Soccer League, including the three championship wins in 1923, 1936 and 1940.

1994 succeeded Cartaginés to compete against the best teams in the region and win the CONCACAF Champions Cup.

Since this last success Cartagos it goes sporty in a regular alternating up and down, 2008 Cartaginés could wrest example, the descent just barely.

Stadium

CS Cartaginés plays its home matches at the ends located in the center Cartagos Estadio José Rafael " Fello " Meza. The stadium is located in club owned and almost nearly 15,000 spectators.
