Caan, Germany

Caan is a municipality in the Westerwald district in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Ransbach -Baumbach.

Geographical location

The community lies in the Westerwald between Koblenz and Siegen on the edge of the can baker country.

History

The first mention of the village in the year 1250.

Until the renaming on 1 January 1975 Caan was named suffix "( Unterwesterwald District)".

The local council in Caan consists of twelve council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

The coat of arms description reads: " Divided by a wavy blue bar at the top of three red gold eagles, silver down in a red jug flanked by two red acorns ".
