Cabarrus County, North Carolina

Cabarrus County is a county located in the state of North Carolina of the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Concord.

Geography

The County lies to the west of the geographic center of North Carolina, is located in the southwest about 40 miles from South Carolina and has an area of 945 square kilometers, of which 2 square kilometers is water area. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Rowan County, Stanly County, Union County, Mecklenburg County and Iredell County.

History

Cabarrus County was formed in 1792 from parts of Mecklenburg County. It was named after Stephen Cabarrus, a member of the government. 1799 Gold was discovered in the area, what the Noth Carolina gold rush triggered.
