Cabell County, West Virginia

Cabell County is a county located in the U.S. state of West Virginia in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Huntington.

Geography

The County is located in southwestern West Virginia, on the west by Ohio, where the limit by the Ohio River is formed, and has an area of 746 square kilometers, of which 17 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Mason County, Putnam County, Lincoln County, Wayne County, Lawrence County ( Ohio) and Gallia County ( Ohio).

History

Cabell County was formed on January 2, 1809 from parts of Kanawha County. It was named after William H. Cabell, a judge and governor of Virginia.

According to the census in 2000 in Cabell County 96 784 people lived in 41.180 households and 25,490 families. The population density was 133 people per square kilometer.
