Caburgua Lake

The Lago Carburgua is a large lake in southern Chile.

It is located in the IX Region ( Región de la Araucanía ). The lake is 23 km east of the city of Pucón. Southwest of the lake is the famous Lake Villarrica.

The Lago Carburgua has an area of ​​approximately 51 square kilometers and is lined with white sand beaches. The lake is fed by the river Río Blanco. To the east of the lake lies the National Park Huerquehue.

Southwest of the lake are various hot springs, such as Termas de Menetue, Termas de Río Blanco Huife and Termas de. East of the lake is 2040 m high mountain Cerro Picos del Carburgua. West of the lake lies the national reserve Villarrica.

Particularly well known are the Ojos de Carburgua, large spring pool of an underground river which originates from Lake Carburgua. The whole area is surrounded by woods.

Tourism

The lake is suitable for sailing and fishing. The lake and the rivers are full of fish. The area is ideal for kayaking and windsurfing. At the lake there are a number of campsites.
