Cáceres Lake

The Laguna Cáceres is a lake in the province of Germán Busch in the Department of Santa Cruz in the lowlands of Bolivia. The lake is located in the Bolivian frontier for eastern neighbor Brazil in the nature reserve ANMI ( Área Natural de manejo de Integrado Otuquis ).

Geography

The Laguna Cáceres is located at an altitude of 83 m in the Bolivian part of the Pantanal, one of the largest inland wetlands in the world. The lake has an area of eight kilometers in length and about six kilometers in width, the total area of the lake, however, varies due to seasonal 33-200 km ². The lake is surrounded by wetlands, surrounded by bush land that has been cleared in part for large-scale agriculture.

Hydrology

The main tributaries in the north of the lake are the Río Pimiento and Tutuyú channel and Sicuri channel belonging to the vast wetlands of the Río Paraguay. In the southeast of the lake over the ten -kilometer Tamengo channel with the Río Paraguay is connected.
