Cache on a stick

Cache on a stick, short COAST, is a small module with memory blocks. It was a pipelined burst cache with a capacity of 256 KB or 512 KB. This runs at the external clock frequency of the CPU (FSB).

The module is used for memory expansion of the soldered L2 cache, mostly from 256 KB to 512 KB, or as a replacement of the slower asynchronous L2 cache on older Pentium motherboards. On some older motherboards the cache but is soldered and therefore an exchange virtually impossible.
