Cacodyl or Tetramethyldiarsan, As2 (CH3 ) 4, formerly known as " Cadetsche liquid ", is a highly toxic and foul-smelling excrement liquid ignites in the air by itself.

Cacodyl is one of the organometallic compounds.

It is formed when distilling arsenious acid with potassium acetate.

The first representation of cacodyl was in 1760 by Louis Claude Cadet de Gassicourt. Cadet had thus also unwittingly synthesizes the first organometallic compound. Cacodyl and cacodyl connections [ with As (CH3 ) 2 group ] were systematically investigated in 1836 by Robert Bunsen.
