Cadillac AOC

The wine region of Cadillac lies in the south of the great wine-growing region of Entre -Deux- Mers, a part of Bordeaux, and produced exclusively noble sweet white wines. The appellation covers approximately 218 hectares and is located on the territory of the municipalities Baurech, Béguey, Cadillac (this is the eponymous municipality ) Capian, Cardan, Donzac, Gabarnac, Haux, Langoiran, Laroque, Lestiac -sur -Garonne, Le Tourne Monprimblanc, Omet, Paillet, Rions, Saint- Germain- de -Grave, Saint- Maixant, Semens, Tabanac Verdelais and Villenave -de- Rions. The area with loamy limestone floor is enclosed by the large Premieres Cotes de Bordeaux appellation and is located on the orographic right bank of the Garonne. Cadillac is the well-known producing areas against Sauternes Barsac and. Since 10 August 1973, the area enjoys the status of an Appellation d' Origine (AOC ).

The provisions of the appellation applies only to noble sweet white wines (see Botrytis cinerea) from the grape varieties Sémillon ( average share of about 88% ), Sauvignon Blanc ( 10 %) and Muscadelle. The wines are in addition to those of Sainte -Croix -du- Mont and Loupiac as the best sweet wines of the region Entre -Deux- Mers. Qualitatively they do not reach the wines of Sauternes, but are an inexpensive alternative.
