Cadore

The Cadore (Italian il Cadore Cadore Ladin l or l Cador, from Latin Cadubrium, Catubria; German also Cadober ) is framed by the Dolomite valley landscape in the Northern Italian Veneto. History

The Romans subjugated the Cadore in the 2nd century BC and annexed it to the X region Venetia et Histria on. In the Middle Ages there were possessions of the Bishop of Freising; it came temporarily to Carinthia, in 1077 the Patriarchate of Aquileia, and finally the Republic of Venice. 1508 and 1509 defeated the Venetians together with forces from the Cadore Emperor Maximilian I, who wanted to incorporate the area itself. 1511, however, he succeeded in the final occupation of lying in the far north of the Cadore Cortina d' Ampezzo, which remained in Austria until 1919, and has retained its own identity to this day.
