Cadore

The Cadore (Italian il Cadore Cadore Ladin l or l Cador, from Latin Cadubrium, Catubria; German also Cadober ) is framed by the Dolomite valley landscape in the Northern Italian Veneto. Is Bathed the valley above Longarone Boite and Piave. • Comunità montana Centro Cadore Auronzo, Calalzo, Domegge di Cadore, Lorenzago di Cadore, Lozzo di Cadore, Perarolo di Cadore Pieve di Cadore, Vigo di Cadore, Valle di Cadore
• Comunità montana Comelico Sappada: Comelico Superiore, Danta di Cadore, San Nicolò di Comelico, San Pietro di Cadore Santo Stefano di Cadore, Sappada

History

The Romans subjugated the Cadore in the 2nd century BC and annexed it to the X region Venetia et Histria on. In the Middle Ages there were possessions of the Bishop of Freising; it came temporarily to Carinthia, in 1077 the Patriarchate of Aquileia, and finally the Republic of Venice. 1508 and 1509 defeated the Venetians together with forces from the Cadore Emperor Maximilian I, who wanted to incorporate the area itself. 1511, however, he succeeded in the final occupation of lying in the far north of the Cadore Cortina d' Ampezzo, which remained in Austria until 1919, and has retained its own identity to this day.

The rest of Cadore remained until the Napoleonic wars in the Republic of Venice. At the Congress of Vienna you hit it with the Veneto and Lombardy, the Empire of Austria to, whereas it soon encouraged resistance in the population. During the Risorgimento, it came in Cadore in May 1848 in a letter cited by Pietro Calvi popular uprising against Austrian rule.

Valley of gelatieri

The Val di Cadore is also known as the "Valley of gelatieri " is known. From here comes the majority of Italian Ice - owner in Germany. Since the 1920s she emigrated to Germany in the summer selling ice cream and spend the winter in their homeland.

Economy

In recent decades, the Cadore has developed into a fairly affluent area, have settled in the numerous industries ( including glasses, such as Luxottica ). The tourism and winter sports also play a significant role.
