Notes, music

Strauss' Cagliostro was the reverse fate fated as his bat: While this fell through at the premiere, but later brought him the greatest triumph, Cagliostro was initially a huge success, but later lost the public's favor. ( The initial success may be due not least to the fact that two of the roles with the public's favorite Marie Geistinger and Alexander Girardi were occupied. ) In the long run was in fact not to hear that the musical substance compared to the year earlier premiered bat was lower and also the textbook defects exhibited. Later attempts were made by various edits, save the work for the stage. At the most successful proved the from the year 1941 by Karl Gustav Tutein and Quedenfeldt. As musical highlights were highlighted:

  • Gypsy child how shiny your hair
  • The rose blooms when the sun kisses
  • If I could fly with you through life ( Cagliostro - Walzer)
