Cai (state)

Cai (蔡Chinese, Pinyin or蔡国Cai, Càiguó ) is the name of an ancient Chinese State in the Zhou period. After King Wu (周武王) the Yin Dynasty (殷) had destroyed, he gave his younger brother Shu Du叔 度the country Cai as a fief. This was the state Cai. In 447 BC it was conquered by the state of Chu. Its territory was located on the territory of today's Henan Province, southwest of the circle Shangcai (上蔡县).
