Cai Wenji

Cai Wenji (Chinese蔡文姬, Cai Wenji Pinyin; * 177, † 250) was a poet and musician of the Han Dynasty in China. Her father was the musician Cai Yong. Her birth name was Cai Yan (Chinese蔡琰, Pinyin Cai Yan), but it is now known by her farm name.

Cai Wenji wrote 18 songs for flute. The Guqin Pieces Because Hujia, Xiao Hujia and Hujia Shiba Bai are also attributed to her. On Venus, a crater is named after her.

While it is known from historical sources about her life a little, her character gets in Luo Guanzhongs novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms clearer contours. She marries a certain Wei Zhongdao, is an attack on the Xiongnu Chang'an Ce Xian, Crown Prince on the left (Chinese左贤王), abducted. The next year she spends in the vicinity of today's Mongolia as a concubine.

The Chancellor Cao Cao sorry Cai Yong, because his daughter was kidnapped in the desert, and he sends the Xiongnu gold and jade to redeem Cai Wenji. Since her husband has since died, Cai Wenji is married upon their return with Dong Si, a friend of Cao Cao.

Cai Wenjis homecoming is on the famous Jin- painting " Cai Wenji return to their homeland " (Chinese文姬 归汉 图) represented, which probably comes from a Han official named Zhang Yu. It is now exhibited in the Museum of Art in Jilin province.

On the 5 - yuan coin Cai Wenji is represented with a harp.
