Caiazzo

Caiazzo is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 5641 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Caserta in Campania. The municipality is situated approximately 12 km north-northeast of Caserta near the Monti Trebulani and directly borders the province of Benevento. The southern boundary of the municipality is the Volturno.

History

In antiquity, the area was settled by the Osker and the Samnites. Worth seeing are the remains of the Acropolis Kaiatinim. By Sulla was the city that BC to Rome belonged since 306, during the civil wars destroyed.
