Cairns Group

The Cairns Group (English: Cairns Group) is an advocacy group, composed of 19 agricultural exporting countries. It was founded in 1986 just before the start of the Uruguay Round of the GATT and represented by its own account about one- third of the world 's agricultural exports. It is named after the place of their first meeting pedaling, the Australian Cairns.

The group consists mainly next to the developed countries, Canada and Australia from emerging countries, namely still from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Indonesia, Colombia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, South Africa, Thailand and Uruguay.

In addition to the Uruguay Round and the WTO negotiations foundation it is active especially in the Doha Round.
