ÄŒaklov

Čaklov ( until 1927 slovak also " Čekľov "; Hungarian Csáklyó ) is a town in eastern Slovakia. Administratively it belongs to the Okres Vranov nad Topľou within the Prešov Region. December 31, 2011 were recorded in the town of 2480 inhabitants.

Geography

The municipality is situated on the right bank of the river Topľa at its confluence with the stream Zámutovský creek, in the northern reaches of the East Slovak Lowland. Čaklov is just five kilometers from Vranov nad Topľou away.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1282 as Chaklomezeu writing and refers to the surrounding fields. Later, the town belonged to the estate of Čičava and Vranov.
