Calatia

Calatia was an ancient city in Italy in Campania. She lay south-east of Capua on the Appian Way on the way to Caudium and Benevento in today's San Giacomo delle Galazze, Galazia, about 2 km south-east of Caserta.

313 BC Calatia was conquered by the Romans, but fell during the Second Punic War, together with Capua again. In the 2nd century BC became a Roman municipium Calatia, 59 BC Colonia.

On a late Roman Diocese of the city, the titular Calatia goes back ( titular ) of the Roman Catholic Church.
