Caldwell Esselstyn

Caldwell Blakeman Esselstyn Jr. ( born December 12, 1933, New York City, United States) is an American physician, author and participants of the Summer Olympics in 1956.

Biography

Esselstyn attended Deerfield Academy ( boarding school ) and studied from 1956 medicine at Yale University, where he was also a member of the fraternity Skull and Bones. His medical professional doctoral degree ( MD ), he finally received in 1961 from Case Western Reserve University. His field of specialization is surgery.

He participated in the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne and won some in the discipline of eight races in rowing a gold medal.

From 1961 to 1968 he worked for various hospitals in the United States, London and Vietnam as a doctor. From 1968 he worked for the surgical department of the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. Within this, he served as surgical director for thyroid disease and breast cancer by 2006. From 1977 to 1978 he was also Chairman of the Human Resources Department and from 1977 to 1982 Member of the Supervisory Board. Since 2009 he has been Chairman of the Departments of Preventive Medicine and Wellness.
