Caldwell Vale

The Caldwell Vale Truck & Bus Co. is an Australian automotive and commercial vehicle manufacturers, who was from 1907 to 1916 in Auburn (New South Wales), a suburb of Sydney, established.

Creation and patents

The company was founded by Felix and Norman Caldwell Laurie Caldwell of South Australia, 1907 a patent entitled Improvements in and connected with driving and steering of motor- propelled vehicles (German: Improvements in and in connection with driving and controlling motorized vehicles) anmeldeten. This patent dealt with the four-wheel drive in conjunction with a four-wheel steering. Later, Henry Vale in New South Wales joined the company. 1910 reported the trio another patent entitled Improved power steering gear for heavy motor- driven road vehicles: to (German Improved power steering for heavy motor-driven road vehicles).

Products

Few details are known about the brand, but it probably originated about 40 vehicles. Among them was a touring car with four-wheel drive, a 30 hp six-cylinder engine and four-wheel steering. Some tractors were built.

Takeover

1912/1913 the company lost a process through performance guarantees of their trucks and were taken over in 1916 by Purcell Engineering.

A 80 - hp Caldwell Vale Tractor (1910). He had four-wheel drive and a further cooling tank back. This suggests that the front cooler was not sufficient to keep the engine at normal operating temperature.
