Caleb Deschanel

Caleb Deschanel ( born September 21, 1944 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is an American cinematographer and film director.

Career

For his work as a cinematographer Deschanel has been nominated for five Oscars. He also won numerous other awards, including in 1976 the Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival for the short film Trains.

His debut as a director, he was in 1976 with the documentary features. His feature film debut came in 1982 with the great spell. In 1990, he has directed three episodes of the TV series Twin Peaks. A year earlier, he turned the Adventure Crusoe.

He is married to actress Mary Jo Deschanel and father of actresses Zooey and Emily Deschanel.
