The Caledon or Mohokare as it is in Lesotho also called, is a right tributary of the Orange River in South Africa. He preferably flows in a southwesterly direction and forms the northwestern border of Lesotho. It rises near the village Libono, almost at the northernmost point of Lesotho at an altitude of around 2700 m. Here, there is a second, larger source river, which rises to the north and Little Caledon means.

Approximately 30 km southwest of Wepener of Caledon is dammed by the Welbedacht reservoir. The Caledon flows near Bethulie in the Orange and fed with this the Gariep Dam. The Caledon is rich in sediments, resulting in the reservoirs to problems, since these rapidly lose their storage capacity.

The capital of Lesotho, Maseru, is located at the Caledon, just north of Ficksburg.
