Calgary Wranglers

The Calgary Wranglers were a Canadian ice hockey team from Calgary, Alberta. The team played from 1977 to 1987 in one of the three highest Canadian Junior Hockey League, the Western Hockey League ( WHL).

History

In the summer of 1977, the Winnipeg Monarchs from Winnipeg, Manitoba, to Calgary, Alberta, relocated and renamed in Calgary Wranglers. The Wranglers filled the gap that had the resettlement of the Calgary Centennials to Billings, Manitoba causes. Her biggest success was achieved by the Calgary Wranglers with reaching the final at the Ed Chynoweth Cup in the 1980/81 season, in which they almost defeated by the Victoria Cougars in the best- of-seven series with 3:4. After declining success - including 1985/86 and 1986/87 were missed the playoffs - the owner of the Wranglers decided to relocate the franchise and moved it to Lethbridge, Alberta, where it has since competes under the name Lethbridge Hurricanes in the WHL.
