Calhoun County (Arkansas)

The Calhoun County is a county located in the U.S. state of Arkansas. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Hampton, named after John R. Hampton, a U.S. senator who was instrumental in the formation of the county.

The Calhoun County was formed on December 6, 1850 from parts of Dallas County, Quachita County and Bradley County. It was named after John C. Calhoun (1782-1850), an American statesman, politician, and philosopher.

Demographic data
