Cali (singer)
Cali ( born June 28, 1968 in Perpignan, actually Bruno Caliciuri ) is a French singer. Stylistically, he moves between Nouvelle chanson and rock music.
Biography
Bruno was born in 1968 in the French Caliciuri Perpignan and later moved with his family to Vernet -les- Bains in the canton of Prades in the Pyrenees. Although he was interested as a teenager already at rock music like The Clash or Simple Minds, but wanted to be a professional rugby player. After attending a U2 concert in 1984, he changed his career aspirations towards the musicians. The play guitar he taught himself itself. Caliciuri was active in a number of local musical groups. In 1994 he became a member of the group Indy, with whom he released two albums and over 200 live performances completed. Later he joined the Music Project Tom Scarlett, which in 1998 he brought out a self-funded album. After the dissolution of the project chose the stage name Bruno Caliciuri Cali and collaborated with guitarist Baretge Hugues, who was also active in Tom Scarlett. The duo played several years in the club Le Mediator in Perpignan. Performances in the opening act of Bénabar and Brigitte Fontaine Cali procured through regional awareness and an appearance at the Francofolies Festival in 2002 gave him a contract with the French independent label Music label, a sub-label of EMI France.
Calis debut album L' Amour parfait was released in August 2003, critics compared Calis with the music of Christophe Miossec. End of 2004, the DVD plein de vie, a recording of a concert at Club Bataclan in Paris was released on 26 May 2004. Cali in January 2005 denied a headlining appearance at the Paris Olympia. His second album Menteur followed in October 2005. During summer 2006, he played in the movie musical Magique! with and was represented on the soundtrack album of the same name. 2008 was followed by the third studio album L' Espoir. In 2009, Cali was part of the cast of the project The Hyènes, which included members of Noir Désir. In the fall of 2009, the project undertook a one-month tour through France, she performed on the covers of AC / DC, Iggy Pop and The Stooges as well as interpretations of Cali songs. On 21 October 2009, the group played at the Bataclan. 2010 appeared Calis third album La vie est une truite arc-en -ciel qui nage dans mon cœur. In March 2011, a tour began by French Zénith. Calis so far last studio album Vernet -les- Bains was released in fall 2012, and is dedicated to his hometown. On January 24, 2013, was made an honorary citizen of Vernet -les- Bains.
Awards
Cali was for the Victoires de la musique - nominated in the category Artist of the Year 2004 - the French version of the Grammys. He was nominated ( for Penson à l' avenir ) and for the concert of the year 2005 in the categories Male Artist of the Year and Song of the Year. 2006 Menteur was nominated for Pop / Rock Album of the Year, 2009 Cali won this award for his album L' Espoir.
2004 won the Prix Constantin Cali and the Prix Vincent Scotto SACEM for the most popular song of the year ( C'est quand le bonheur? , The first track of their debut album L' amour parfait ).
Calis first three studio albums reached platinum status in France, respectively, the fourth 2010 Gold.
