Caliabria

Caliabria is a titular of the Roman Catholic Church.

History

The diocese Caliabria existed between 621 ( terminus ante quem ) and 693 ( terminus post quem ) in the Visigothic kingdom. Where exactly Caliabria once was, whether in present-day Portugal, or in Spain today, is not yet clear; several theories for spatial location in competition. The diocese Caliabria belonged to the ecclesiastical province of Emerita Augusta.

When King Ferdinand II of León in 1161 the diocese of Ciudad Rodrigo built ( the papal recognition followed in 1168 ) and had thereby overcome the resistance of the Diocese of Salamanca, which saw itself affected by the start-up, he explained that it constitutes no new diocese but that he is merely the sunken diocese Caliabria restorative.
