Califon is a borough in Hunterdon County in New Jersey in the United States.

The names Calfion received the city in the 1920s, later shortening, because the settlement was originally called California.

Califon was a station on the High Bridge Branch of the Central Railroad of New Jersey. After the sale of the Central Railroad to Conrail in 1976, the rail link was abandoned. Today, the Columbia Trail, a bicycle path runs along the former railway line. According to the last census, 2007 1033 people live in Califon.

In the city there are no house numbers, but houses carry signs with the name of the builder and the year of establishment.

The city hosts a kindergarten and a public school.
