California is a song by American band Phantom Planet of the album The Guest from the year 2002. In the United States, the single was released on 23 April 2002. It is the title song of the American television series The OC.

"California" is about U.S. Highway 101 to go along to California. Roman Coppola, cousin of songwriter Jason Schwartzman, turned the music video.

The success of the series The OC, and the song was known and was played in a Simpsons episode as a parody. However, the song can also be heard in other films or television series such as Fast Lane or The Enron bankruptcy. It is also included on the soundtrack to Nix as Orange County.
