Calisto Tanzi

Calisto Tanzi ( born November 17, 1938 in Collecchio ) is an Italian entrepreneur.

Calisto Tanzi is the owner of numerous companies, including the food company Parmalat, founded in 1961 by him and FC Parma.

In 2003, he became known in connection with the financial fraud case of Parmalat, Parmalat as crack arrested. During the procedure, it turned out that he had managed to build up an extensive web of corruption, the people from the political, financial and media that involved.

Calisto Tanzi in 2008 was sentenced by a court in Milan to a ten -year prison term and pay restitution in the amount of 80,000 euros. Seven defendants, who were with him before the court, were acquitted. As Tanzi is already over seventy years old, acres of imprisonment is unlikely.

Once at the end of November 2009 an Italian television show speculated about the existence of a hidden personal assets of Tanzi, led on 5 December 2009 Tanzis son Stefano Strini the Italian tax police in three apartment basement in Parma, as hiding places for old masterpieces by Van Gogh, Picasso, Monet, Cezanne, Modigliani, Manet and Degas were used. The authorities estimate the value of the confiscated artworks to 100 million euros.

In December 2010, Tanzi was sentenced to a further process due to bankruptcy fraud and criminal conspiracy to 18 years in prison.
