Callenberg

Call is a municipality in the northeast of the district Zwickau. The seat of government is located in the district of hawks.

Geography

Call Mountain is located on the B 180 ( Altenburg- Stollberg ) between the two cities Limbach- Oberfrohna and Glauchau. Both cities are about 13 miles away. 4 km south runs the A 4 These can be accessed via the connection Hohenstein- Ernstthal (about 4 km).

The municipality consists of the villages Callnberg, Grumbach, Reichenbach with upper Callnberg, hawks, Langenberg, Langenchursdorf and my village.

Geology

In Callnberg is the largest Nickelerzlagerstätte Central Europe. Since the 1960s, here nickel ore was mined in the open pit and processed in the nickel refinery St. Egidien. The remaining holes of the open pits were renovated after 1990. One of them is the current upper reservoir forest. In 1977, the very rare mineral Krokoit or red lead ore was found (one lead (II) chromate ) in the nickel mining Callnberg Nord I.

History

All seven districts were founded in the 12th to 13th centuries. The eponymous capital Callnberg 1244 first mentioned in documents as Kallenberc. The name means as much as place at Bald Mountain.

On March 1, 1974 Grumbach was incorporated. Reichenbach was added on 1 March 1994.
