Callinicus (Exarch)

Callinicus (Greek Kallinikos Καλλίνικος ) was an East Roman Patricius and 596/597 bis 602/603 Exarch of Ravenna.

Callinicus was the successor of Romanus and is the first time witnessed in June 597 as Exarch. He is the recipient of two letters of Pope Gregory I and is mentioned by the Pope in his other letters. Callinicus sat down at Gregor, ultimately successful, for the recognition of the bishop Maximus of Salona one.
