Calliope Tsoupaki

Calliope Tsoupaki (Greek Kalliopi Tsoupaki Καλλιόπη Τσουπάκη, MAY 1963 in Piraeus ) is a Greek composer.

Tsoupaki studied piano and music theory at the Athens Conservatory and studied composition student of Yannis Ioannidis. She then studied until 1992 at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague with Louis Andriessen. Her compositions were, inter alia, New Music Festival in Middelburg ( United States, 1990 and 1992 ) and the International Gaudeamus Music Week in Amsterdam (1991 and 1993) listed.

In 1993 she won a three-month Budapestaufenthalt the Fondation Pepinieres. Since then she has lived in Amsterdam. In addition to chamber music and songs Tsoupaki composed a St. Luke Passion. In this work, which was premiered at the Holland Festival in 2008, she went back to Byzantine melodies.
