The Calloway County is a county located in the U.S. state of Kentucky. In 2010, the County had 37 191 inhabitants and a population density of 37.2 inhabitants per square kilometer .. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Murray, which was named after John L. Murray, a member of the U.S. Congress.

Geography

The County is located in southwest Kentucky on the western shore of the Kentucky Lake dammed the Tennessee River. History

The Calloway County was formed on December 19, 1821 from parts of Hickman County. It was named after Colonel Richard Calloway, who was killed in the Indian War of 1780.
