Calpiogna

Calpiogna was until March 31, 2012, a municipality in the district of Faido in the district of Leventina in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland.

Merger with Faido

On April 1, 2012, it merged with the municipalities Anzonico, Campello, Cavagnago, Chironico, Mairengo and Osco to the existing community Faido.

The village Calpiogna lies on a sunny terrace on the eastern flank of the Valle Leventina 1149 meters and counted at the end of 2007, only 37 inhabitants, the end of 2002 there were still 46

The municipality Calpiogna include Prodör, which is a well known holiday resort with Carì Ticino, and the village Primadengo. 1853 sparked the now independent municipality Campello by the community.

The citizens of Calpiogna rejected in March 2004 in a referendum to merge their community with Faido, Osco, Mairengo, Campello, Anzonico, Rossura, Calonico, Chiggiogna, Cavagnago and Sobrio, although the community has little resources and is financially completely from Canton dependent.
