Caltex

Caltex ( ASX symbol CTX ) is the brand of Chevron Corporation used in more than 60 countries in Asia, the Middle East and southern Africa, and is still protected in Germany.

History

Caltex began in 1936 as the California Texas Oil Company, a joint venture between The Texas Company ( later Texaco ) and Standard Oil of California (later Chevron) to market oil from the just gained concessions in Saudi Arabia. The company was renamed Caltex Petroleum Corporation in 1968. The two parent companies merged in 2001 to ChevronTexaco (since 2005: Chevron). Caltex was one of Chevron's major international brands,

The company operated from the 1960s, an oil refinery in Raunheim (Hessen ) with a large tank farm, which was to survey from the motorway A 3 well. This was later taken over by RWE Dea. After the plants were longer disabled, the site was acquired by Fraport in 2004.
