Calvi Risorta

Calvi Risorta is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 5759 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Caserta in Campania. The community is located about 23 kilometers northwest of Caserta, about 43 kilometers north- west of Naples to the Monti Trebulani. The administrative headquarters is located in the district of Zuni.

History

The ancient town of Cales was located here in the municipality, which was originally settled by the Ausonians. Presumably there were up to 2,500 people, who formed the city. Cales was conquered by the Romans already 335 BC. Until the 5th century was Cale's seat of a bishop. 879 the city was destroyed by the Saracens. Under the Normans, the city was then built again. 1818 the diocese, which in the newly established town of Calvi had his seat, lifted and incorporated into the diocese of Teano.

Traffic

Through the community, the Autostrada A1 lead from Rome to Naples and - approximately parallel to - the Strada Statale 6 Casilina.
