Calvia Crispinilla

Calvia Crispinilla was a friend of the Roman Emperor Nero, survived the turmoil unscathed after his death in 68 AD and is still enjoyed under the Flavian emperors great reputation in Rome.

Life

Calvia Crispinilla was a woman of senatorial rank who initially lived at the court of Nero. The historian Tacitus referred to as the " teacher of the desires of Nero " ( magistra libidinum Neronis ). When the Roman rulers came to pass in AD 66 on a trip to Greece, Calvia Crispinilla took part in it and was anxious to enrich themselves as much as possible. The Emperor gave her the caring supervision of his effeminate Sporus.

After Nero 's death in June 68 Calvia Crispinilla traveled to Africa in order to attend to Lucius Clodius Macer cause, commander of the Legio III Augusta for more aggressive rebellion against the emperor Galba.
