Calvin D. Johnson

Career

In 1904, Calvin Johnson came with his parents in the St. Clair County, Illinois, where he attended the public schools. Between 1922 and 1944 he worked as an entrepreneur. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Republican Party launched a political career. Between 1926 and 1928 he was a member of the school board in St. Clair County; 1930 to 1934 he sat in the local county council. Between 1935 and 1941 he was a delegate in the House of Representatives from Illinois.

In the congressional elections of 1942, Johnson was in the 22nd electoral district of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he succeeded the Democrats Edwin M. Schaefer on January 3, 1943. Since he has not been confirmed in 1944, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until January 3, 1945. This was marked by the events of the Second World War.

In 1946, Johnson competed unsuccessfully to return to Congress. Between 1952 and 1968 he worked for the company Remington Rand, Inc. He died on 13 October 1985 in Belleville.
