The Calyceraceae are a family in the order of the aster -like ( Asterales ). In this family, there are four to six genera and about 40 species with purely neotropical distribution; all kinds have their areas in South America. Most species grow in the Andes.

Description

Types of Calyceraceae are annual or perennial herbaceous plants. The change-constant leaves are simple or pinnate. In some species the leaves are in basal rosettes. The leaf margins are all about. Stipules absent.

There are both taxa with hermaphrodite and taxa with unisexual flowers; male and female flowers are on one plant, so they are monoecious getrenntgeschlechtig ( monoecious ). The flowers are borne ( inflorescences ), individually or in mostly capitate or rarely racemose inflorescences.
