Camaná

Camaná is a coastal town in the region of Arequipa in Peru and capital of the province Camaná. The city has about 15,000 inhabitants. The city is known especially for its white beaches, making it a popular destination for residents of Arequipa. Near the town flows the Río Camaná in the Pacific.

2001, the city was victim of a severe earthquake, which caused a lot of damage to the local infrastructure and the number of tourists dropped sharply in consequence.
