Cambridge, New Zealand

Cambridge is a town in the Waikato region in the North Island of New Zealand. It is located 24 km southeast of Hamilton, on the banks of the Waikato River.

The city is known as "The Town of Trees " ( " City of Trees "). With 13,890 inhabitants ( census 2001) it is the largest city in the Waipa District and continues to grow.

The city is known for its thoroughbred horse studs, which come from a lot of good racing and jumping horses.

The reservoir Lake Karapiro, one of the best rowing courses in the world, is located near and in 1978 and 2010 hosted the World Rowing Championships.

The town is twinned with Le Quesnoy in France.
